Welcome to No Dip Musik, the source where I, Robyn, post my fave choons in mp3 form for you to experience!
Everyone loves music, and I am no exception, only not everybody goes ahead and acts crazy in their aim to share all the goodness. This is my outlet where I let go and spread the love I have for music, allowing others to sample what I'm feeling.
My passion lives within the earlier years of contemporary urban music, particularly that of New Jack Swing, Hip Hop Soul etc. but I still consider myself pretty eclectic when it comes the stuff overall. This place will no doubt be based in urban routes, but I will still regularly throw in anything I do consider to be quality shiz, regardless of the genre!
All songs will be of CD quality unless otherwise stated (I know that's how I like it, so that's how I'll deliver). Plus 90% of the tunes I'll post on here will be ripped from my own collection so I can pretty much guarantee you the hottness in that sense!
I don't post full albums.. I say this because I feel that these should be purchased in order to support the artist. It may seem like a waste of money to some but I'm a broke-ass student and that's what I do regardless. I simply offer artist samples in order to promote what I feel is worth your £.
Yes, I will do requests.. Just leave a message on the tag-board and if a) I can get hold of the song of acceptable quality and b) I am also feeling it I'll post it on here. However, no full album requests please, only ask for individual songs etc. Other than that, I will try my best to sort it.
I credit others, so credit me.. If you use one of my links or files on your site please credit my hard work. I'd do the same for you!
Aww, hell yeh! Loving this song, the video has brought it all together for me. 'Call On Me' was weak, this is solid. I like.. a lot.
I shall be pumping this loud tomorrow once my classes let out. I have a weekend to be hella excited about after all, *Wink* Oh, this is the CD qualitydirty version too. Because that's the way it should be.
...Where the hell I'd disappeared to I thought I'd better post a little message to explain what's going on!
On August 17th I moved back to Calgary in Canada for college again, after spending nearly 4 months back home in the UK working for the summer - and that there is the reason why updates have been so infrequent.
I've never been one for heavy updating because my job kept me busy much of the time (and these blogs are soooo damn time consuming, as y'all know), but as soon as August hit I had to get my ish sorted ready to move and such because I won't be back in the UK for a considerable amount of time for a couple of years now, only visiting my parents at Christmas and alike.
I move into my new place come Labour Day so things should get back to normal a little more then. At the moment I'm bouncing from hotels to cousin's houses and although I have inet access I barely even have time to check my email, let alone anything else.
What can I say, all of my free time is being spent with my fella, I won't front - haha!
We've been doing long distance since I left this place in early May, so it's necessary maintanance, you get me?! I mean, shiiiiat, I'm only 20 and I do got a life on the outside and some things got to come before others at times I'm afraid!
Anyway, enough of the excuses *smirk*, I'll update and fulfill the requests coming in within the next few weeks once I get settled. But don't worry, I haven't gone anywhere - I'll be back up in this mutha shortly.
I get quite a few of these so I best just sort them all in one go. If your request is not fulfilled in this post (and hasn't been previously) it's because I am yet to find the song.. but am still looking, so no worries.
I do like receiving requests because they often introduce me to songs and/or artists I am unfamiliar with and end up loving, or reminding me of a good song I used to adore but have since forgotten. These Musiq gems are good examples of the latter - I was so feeling these way back when!
I'm liking this. I've liked DMX ever since I saw that documentary where he performed for a bunch of underprivilaged kids, I think from where he grew up. He was a real sincere guy, I was cut up when he spoke about him losing his grandmother.
Hey Sha, I found the new P. Diddy song floating around online. You didn't leave a title so I assume it's this one.. But even if it isn't it's crazy hott featuring Nicole Scherzinger. That girl needs to get going solo fast - that one she did with Avant (scroll down) is amazing and her own single, 'Steam' is fantastic. When I get a HQ version of it without the top-end distortion (the only copy of it I am yet to find) I will definitely post that too.
But for now.. you gotta download this right here!!!
Now, this is an interesting one. I mean, I really like this track, it's one of the more solid rap songs with an R&B hook to come out in quite some time. Ghostface kicks it well, Ne-Yo holds the chorus down and the production is tight.. it's just.. well.. the concept and message bugs me to hell!
<rant> I expect everyone is aware that the song is basically about Ghostface's girl doing him wrong and him getting his point across when the truth comes out. That's fair enough - but it's blatently obvious that she does this to 'get back' at him for doing her wrong multiple times in the past, and he goes off on how he didn't deserve it.
Granted it was with an enemy of his.. but wouldn't it be worse if she did it with a friend instead?! Plus, if you cheat on someone (especially more than once) you can hardly expect for them to be cool about it and stick with you - what they hey?! If someone messes you around, male or female, they deserve what's coming to them. The girl in this song may not have made the right choice and should have just left his ass.. but really - dude is just being a straight hypocrite.
Forget the original lyrics, it should be more like Yo, your whole dumb notion is wack - you need to stop talking so much smack like that as far as I'm concerned. </rant>
Song's still hott though *Laughs* - get the Kanye West remix too people! *Grin*
It's been a while, I have a few requests mounting up so here's a couple that I have found and can post.. Firstly, Omarion's new track which is floating about - loved it and still loving it. Also a nice one from Donell Jones, one of my fave male contemporary artists. And finally, one for PreciousKGreen.. I found this version of the song you wanted, I assume it's a remix(?) but I'm unsure because I'm unfamiliar with the original. It's hott though, I do like it!
(Dee and Sha, I'm still looking for both of yours I'm afraid!)
Here's a bunch of new-ish summer 2006 songs I've currently got on my own playlist. Some of these have been posted in other blogs, some not.. download what you fancy and enjoy - I'll be back with more thangs at the weekend!
Hey Dee, I'm on the look-out for your request too btw..
I just caught this song by K-OS on the new Vodaphone advert (the one with the dragonfly) and it was playing in the background. Quite a surprise really because this guy is a Canadian and isn't too well-known over here in the UK. 'The Love Song' was quite popular earlier this year (and last) over the way (does this dude get nominated for every damn thing at the Canadian Urban Music Awards?!), and because I like what he does as a more socially-conscious, alternative rapper type, I thought I'd share the single with everyone, despite it being old. Check him out at his official website too.
